Description:
Rascal is a seven month old hound mix puppy. He was pulled from a kill shelter when he was just a tiny thing, but the young lady who adopted him didn't really know a thing about dogs. I guess she thought that puppies raise themselves and are automatically trained in good behavior. Don't get me wrong, he's a sweetheart, but he has been neglected. This young lady has the good fortune of being friends with one of our volunteers. When Stephanie saw how Rascal was living, she offer/insisted on finding this sweet guy a new and loving home. Happily/sadly, his owner was more than willing to let him go.
So, what do we know about Rascal. Well, he already knows how to sit and give paw on command, and lay down, even without treats (hmmm, Tyler Too could learn a thing from that). He is very friendly with dogs, but is protective of food and bones ~ this probably gives you an indication of what his life was like before Stephanie rescued him.... Rascal loves to go places and ride around in the car ~ he's real outgoing! He's pretty quiet, not much of a barker ~ love that! He hasn't had any accidents in the house, but Stephanie is pretty eagle-eyed about this, so there may still be some adjusting in this area when he is adopted. He will go into his crate pretty willingly now. Oh, and he isn't a watch dog ~ he loves visitors!!!! We think he'd do fine with children, but they should be pretty sturdy kids because he is a bit of a duffus and may knock them over accidently ~ he isn't a jumper, so he won't knock them over that way. When he is excited, he runs in circles, not up and down! Really, Rascal is an absolute doll. He has survived unintentional neglect in his early months and has emerged with no scarring. This boy will make anyone a special addition to their home.

Update: Rascal is doing wounderfull! He Loves other Dogs and does great at the dog park. He runs and plays forever. He even Jumped in the water the other Dog had to preswade him to jump in. His leash trining is comming along nicely. He is very submissive with humans and dogs alike. He listenes very well when another dogs corrects him and does not react with any agression. Rascal loves his crate and goes in very willing. I tell him "In" and he goes. He will make a family a wounderfull addition.
