Description:

Paola and her sibling were found in some horrible condition. Covered in fleas, ticks, and very anemic. The have since been bathed and are very sweet and happy. They are suspected to be part Lab, Hound, Shepherd or chow mix. The neigborhood people whom found her werent sure whom was the mother or father but they suspected a few of the dogs roaming the streets? All we really know is that they are cute and sweet!

Foster Update:  Midway is a joy to us. He's a very happy and lively puppy.  He is very active and playful and loves to play with his toys.  He has had a difficult start to his life.  He and his litter mates were found under a house, flea bitten and anemic.  He developed a virus and after starting foster care developed pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung.  The wonderful doctors at Lee Vista Animal Hospital re-expanded his lung, treated his pneumonia and saved his life.  It was rough going at home for 3 days after leaving the hospital.  He is perfectly fine now.  He loves to play with our two smaller dogs, running in the yard and playing catch me.  He is crate trained and goes outside every couple of hours for potty training. He does really well.  He eats Pedigree puppy canned and dry dog food twice a day.  I also give him Yogurt as a treat every day.  He does pretty good walking on a leash.

Foster Update:  Midway is doing great. He is the best little dog. He now weighs 11.5 pounds. His legs are a little longer and has floppy ears. The left stands up and the right falls forward. At times they are both up. He is doing well with  potty training. I take him outside  every 2 hours and he always does his business. He loves playing with Scarlett and Beauty in the yard.  We take him in the car when we are able and he really enjoys that as well.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
