Description:
Sherlock is a lovely brindle Australian Shepherd mix. He is very friendly with people but probably too energetic for small children. According to his owners,
" Sherlock knows how to sit, down, lay. He knows to stay out of the dining room when we eat dinner. When we go to the garage to get his dog food to feed him we tell him to wait in the kitchen and he sits right there until we come back with his food. He understands the command wait when we are opening the sliding screen door so he "get out of the kitchen" when I am cooking and he tries to get underfoot. He loves to be petted on his front chest. He loves to lay next to you on the bed and tends to hog it all. He will fetch the ball. Loves his squeaky toys. He gets car sick most of the times and doesn't even usually like to get anywhere near the car. If you are eating on tv tables he knows when you tell him to get back he will go out away from the food and you.
He likes to play catch with the tennis ball, but if any other dog catches it he will take it away from them. My daughter has always trimmed his fur with scissors and he will just sit there for her and not move, he seems to enjoy the whole process with her. He is better at being bathed outside then in the shower. He will take a treat from you if you just tell him easy and then he won't grab it agressively. He is truly a very loving, healthy dog who was a part of our family that we loved. We gave you some of his favorite toys. He does destroy dog beds and has destroyed carepts at the seams where it meets the floor. We gave him a big basket of toys and he liked to have a kong filled with peanut butter. But once again, he can not have that near any children or other animals. He is very smart and likes to watch tv, especially the animal planet. He would lay on the end of the bed of even just stand infront of the tv in the family room watching the tv and tilting his head from one side to the other as he watched the dog show or whatever else was on tv. He will sit and let you clip his nails. He doesn't like to lay down while you are doing it. Every time you go to the refrigerato to get ice and he hears the ice machine he comes running to get his piece of ice. He prefers the large pieces and yes he gets aggressive over the ice cubes. He is very much a dog that loves to lick and seems to have a long tongue like a lizzard. He also likes to put his paw out towards you to get your attention when you have stopped petting him and he doesn't seem to think that it is enough. He will let you brush him and expects a treat after his nail clipping, bath or brushing. Oh yes, he is very much the watch dog and is ever so alert to people coming to the house or just another dog walking by. He also likes to wear bandanas. Sometimes I think he feels naked without them. Oh, and Sherlock loves to play with shadows and flash lights or the laser lights. He will do that for hours."

Why is Sherlock looking for a new home? Good question, I'm glad you asked. He is a pretty dominant dog, and is aggressive to other dogs even when on a walk (no dog park for this fella!) His owners got a new puppy three weeks ago and Sherlock over reacted, becoming toy and food aggressive. "The other night he bite at one adult hand just when we were petting him and the puppy was in the other room.(actually we were praising Sherlock at the time he bite Janice). Then the next night he bite my hand when I went to pick up a piece of dog food that was on the floor and no other dog or person was around but me. Really, I feel that Sherlock should go to a home with no other dogs, cats or children. If you could please call me when he gets adopted that would be a great relief to all of us, especially my daughter. "

I think this is sad. But here's the good news ~ Sherlock is a great dog and we'll find him a great home. Aussies are great dogs but their almost too smart for their own good. I think Sherlock needs a home with just adults or teenagers ~ no dogs and no cats. He is obviously smart as a whip. He just has security issues. He needs to know that
