Jessup is a young Jack Russell mix. He is really cute, most white with a brown patch over his left eye. He is not hyper like some Jack Russells can be, nor is he a barker. Liking him already, aren't you? :) He's packing a few extra pounds right now, but with a little bit of exercise and a little less food, he'll be perfect!

Foster Update 09/23: Jessup needs attention!!! He definitely is a lover. He loves everybody and anybody that is willing to pet him. Loves his belly scratched and will chew bones, but he really doesn't understand what a toy is, or what to do with it. Hes a quick learner. He definitely has his own schedule. He looks at me with sad eyes around 9:30pm, when he is tired and wants to go to bed. He is potty trained and house trained! He is a cuddler in bed, he just wants to lay by your feet to be touching you. He does snore a little, and the one time I heard him bark, it was quiet and raspy. Jesup needs a home with no other dogs, as he wants ALL of the attention, not just some of it. I also think Jesup needs a home with no children, or older children (10 or older) as he kind of nips when he is playing around.

 

Update 4/15: Jessup is such a lover and enjoys being with you all the time. He really doesn't like to be ignored and wants to interact with you and all people (big or small)! He does well with other dogs but i think his passion is people. He was content when out of the crate on a leash or playing on the floor!

The Jack Russell Terrier is a perky, merry, devoted, and loving dog. Spirited and obedient, yet absolutely fearless. Careful and amusing, he enjoys games and playing with toys. Friendly and generally kind to children who have been taught not to tease or strike the dog. They are intelligent, yet willful and determined. They have strong hunting instincts (stronger than your average terrier) and should not be trusted with other small animals. They like to chase and explore. Be careful not to let them off the lead unless they are very well-trained. Jack Russells like to bark and dig. They tend to get restless and destructive if not kept fruitfully occupied and well exercised. Jack Russells climb, which means they can climb over a fence, they also jump. A Jack that stands 12 inches high can easily jump five feet. JRTs are not the breed for a inexperienced dog owner. This is a BIG dog in a little dogs body. The owner needs to be as strong-willed as they are, or this little guy will take over.
