Description:

Luna had a wonderful home until she got sick and her owner couldn't afford her medical bills. They were going to euthanize her but the vet just couldn't let that happen. She took over Luna's care and we now have a healthy, happy dog ready for a new family!

Medical Update: Luna had bladder stones. She had surgery to remove them but will be on a prescription diet called Royal Canine SO or Science diet CD or SD for the rest of her life to prevent them from coming back. Anyone wanting to adopt this sweet puggle should be aware of this and be able to purchase this food (from a vet or online only). She is currently eating greenbeans in her food to help her lose a little weight...she is a bit chubby!

Foster Update:  Luna is a shade of red, medium size, very strong puggle who is trying very hard to lose a little weight (aren't we all).  Luna has a very high energy level, but when she crashes she sleeps very soundly, even snoring.  She sleeps on the bed with me and three other dogs and sleeps through the night unless someone else gets up to go outside.  I feed Luna one cup of Royal Canine SO with some green beans at night, I feed her outside separate from the other dogs because she is not allowed to have any of their food.  Because of this I don't know about food aggression, but she is ready to eat by 6PM and doesn't take long for her to clean her bowl.  I give her a pill at night in her food and she never fails to eat it when she is chowing down.  Luna adapted very well to a house with 4 other dogs, she fit in right away.  She does like to bark at the other dogs when she wants to play and isn't one to take no when they don't want to play, but a spritz of water is slowly curing that.  She has a habit of digging at the fence looking for treats that our neighbor gives them twice a day.  We have fixed that with some rocks and again a spritz of water and a stern NO when she starts to dig.  She loves to be outside and really hates to come in, if she could stay out all day she would.  Luna is extremely friendly around people, she does like to lick but will stop if you say no.  She hasn't been around any children but I don't think it would be a problem.  She is very solid, but doesn't really run at people so I don't think there would be a problem with her knocking children over.  She learns extremely fast what you don't want her to do and she won't do them (while you're watching)!  I really haven't tested her on any commands, she will come when you call her, but you have to call her several times.  She hasn't been left alone (without our dogs) so I can't say if she has any separation anxiety.  She is housebroken and hasn't had a single accident in the two weeks she has been at our house.  Luna is a very loving dog and tries very hard to please us. I believe she could be a great single dog for a person that is home all the time or with one other dog if she would have to be alone.  Luna is a great dog and whoever adopts her will be very happy.

Foster Update:  Luna is doing fine.  She is back on her diet and though she doesn't like it she is lookin trimmer.  She gets along great with my 4 other dogs, but does like to be included in everything.  She will stand back and bark if she is ignored by the other dogs.  She loves to chase and be chased.  She is a great snuggler and loves to be right next to you in bed.  She would make anyone a great dog.

According to www.puggle.org, the Puggle is a small mixed breed of dog created by mating a pug and beagle, thereby producing an energetic hound having a thickset body, a short-haired, smooth coat with a deeply wrinkled forehead, short legs, a curled tail, and drooping ears. Puggles come in a wide range of colors. Fawn/Tan puggles are the most common, but some are black, white, or tri-colored. One reason they are so popular is because they have the wonderful tempermanent of a beagle, but they don't bay or howl like a beagle. Puggles are sweet-tempered, playful, energetic, intelligent, social, and affectionate. A puggle is a great companion. They are also very curious dogs. They get along well with children, other dogs, and other household pets. Puggles are very friendly and like to show you. They have a good amount of energy and love to play. They enjoy going on walks and running around. Puggles also love their downtime. They love to cuddle up to you on the couch or in bed.
