Description:
Angel is a lovely lab/retriever mix. Sadly, she is looking for a new home as a result of a divorce. Her owner has nothing but praise for her:
" Angel is possibly the most friendly dog that I've ever enountered. I suppose that's why we took her in as a stray in the first place. We were riding bikes in our neighborhood and she followed us two blocks to our house. When we went inside, she waited in the driveway. After that, my ex-wife just couldn't send her away. She's actually very forward in how friendly she is. From the time I walk in the door to the time I leave, she's attentive to my every move. When I sit down, she likes to come up and put her nose right under my hand, hoping to remind me to scratch or pet her. She'll quickly roll over on her back once you start rubbing her so she can get a belly scratch. She loves chasing squirells in the yard and playfighting with my other dog.
She is great with kids and babies (she lets them get very physical and seems to like it). She's lived with cats for a couple of years with no problems. she's lived with another dog for a couple of years and they get along great. The video is of her and my other dog, but she's the smaller one.
Angel has lots of energy and needs more attention than most single, working people can provide. She does fine on her own for 4-8 hours, but my days often run longer than that.
The ideal situation would be a family with children and a stay-at-home mother. Angel craves attention and loves kids and activity. In her perfect world, there would always be someone at home to play with... or at least someone's feet to curl up underneath. Alternately, a retiree or retired couple would be good as long as they have a yard with some room for her to run. I would not recommend a single, working person or couple to adopt Angel. That's the situation that she's in right now with me and I don't feel she's being given the attention that she needs."
I really appreciate the effort this gentleman put into giving us a clear picture of Angel, her personality, her wants and needs. Often, by the time someone decides to give up a pet, they have become so ambivalant that I have trouble getting any information, let alone information of this quality. I think it is an indication of what a wonderful dog Angel is ~ he truly wants her to find the perfect forever home. Is it yours?

*** How familiar are you with the Labrador Retriever? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
