Description: Foster Update 2/14/2008: Anberlin is a wonderful dog! She is sleek, solid black, and BEAUTIFUL!! She loves to play with toys and the big dogs, but then she also likes to calm down and be around her people for some snuggle time. She is curious and loves to explore. She is crate trained. She keeps her crate dry at night. When we leave during the day, she is crated and likes to listen to country music while we are gone. She loves to give kisses and lots of love when we return. We let her right outside and tell her to go potty and she does. She is not housebroken yet, but she is a smart dog and will learn quickly. She loves kids and especially enjoys waking them up in the morning, so if you have a sleepyhead in your house, this is your dog!
Anberlin has been a joy to have around our house. Could she be your next joy?
Anberlin and her sisters were born at the Seminole Animal Shelter. Mary Beth, the administrator, called and asked if we could take them in ~ due to the fire at the shelter last spring, they were living in an unheated trailer and she feared for their health. Well, my goodness, who could say no to that request? Certainly not us! And certainly not Susan who immediately stepped forward to foster these girls. And what a joy they are, a litter of six, all girls, all black. *** How familiar are you with the Labrador Retriever? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
