Description:
This beautiful boy is Mojave. His owners are guessing that he is a mix of greyhound, shepherd and boxer. What ever his parentage, he is a beauty!!! He is also a bundle of energy and love. Let me share with you some of their insights on Mojave:
"We have owned Mojave since he was 6 mos old; we rescued him from the pound as a playmate for our other dog. We did obedience training with him, and he is very smart, and eager to please. He gets along just fine with our dog, 2 cats and our young son (born since we adopted, 16 mos old now).
We believe he is a shepherd, boxer, greyhound mix. Beautiful shepherd dark muzzle and brown eyes, with brindle coloration all over, the "boxer wiggle", and greyhound agility and speed.
Very friendly with people (does jump some), would lick and wiggle a robber to submission.
Very high energy, would run/play all day if could. But he does settle down for long periods of time with out a problem. But rouses to full excitement very easily.
Other dogs he can be a little aggressive in play with (he's a rugby player with our other dog, and they do great, but we don't trust him completely with other dogs at the dog park...we keep an eagle eye on him). Does great with our cats, initially "corncobbed" them a lot, but now pretty much ignores them all the time. He has done great with all kids he's been around (lots of young kids, including our own son birth -16 mos), just gets excited and has been known to knock them over when running and playing.
Needs home with someone who would be very active with him...he needs a job: a jogging buddy daily, frisbee, herding, flyball or agilities. He loves ball, so flyball woould be great. Someone working from home or stay-at-home with time for him periodically during the day would be best. Needs a yard to burn off energy...LOVES to be outside! Avoid apartment living...not a good situation for him to be locked up in a small space all day. Avoid anyone working more than 8 hours daily. Needs lots of activity and attention daily.
We have loved him for the past 3+ years, but his energy level is not a good match for our family. He is a good dog, but he needs more activity and attention than we can provide him. He loves to be outside, and we provide him with that in our big back yard, but he really would be happiest with a job. I had previously contacted ORlando PD and a PD trainer, but they were not accepting dogs at the time, although Mojave would probably be happiest with someone involved with flyball, agilities, or the like. Or at least someone who would take him for a run or frisbee or something every day. We have hoped to provide him what he needs, but have not. Our other dog and cats are more lounging, laid-back animals, which is more appropriate for our household. We want Mojave to have the best home possible, and he deserves it, he is a great dog."
Now, how is that for describing a dog!?! You can tell that these folks love Mojave and truly want him in the "right" home. Is it yours?

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, this very ancient breed is the fastest dog in the world and can reach speeds of over 40 miles per hour (65 km/h). Its greatest gift is its speed. They are thought to have originally descended from the Arabian Sloughi and brought to England by traders before 900 AD. Centuries ago it was used in the hunting of deer and wild boar. It could catch them and pull them down without stopping. It is also an incorrigible enemy of domestic animals, especially cats and geese. Today they are used primarily in dog racing (where they chase mechanical rabbits). This sport is especially popular in Anglo-Saxon countries. After retiring from a racing career, these dogs are often destroyed. Greyhound Rescue groups select the most even-tempered, gentle racers fo
