Poor Chauncey. Orginally Chauncey came to us from a shetler that burned down. Hearing the story about the SoCo dogs, Chauncey was adopted right after she got clearance from the vet that she was healthy enough to be put in a forever home. Chauncey being a wonderful, happy girl was snatched up immediately. . . . only to be brought back a month later when what we thought was Chauncey's forever home lost his job. :o(
Chauncey has had it so ruff (get it?). Being in a shelter with a fire, then being transported to Florida, then being adopted and returned! Please give Chauncey a chance at really having a forever home!

Foster Update 6/13/11:
Chauncey is everything already mentioned on her page already and MORE!! She is the perfect family dog in my opinion and she better be adopted fast or we are likely to keep her, then our fostering days would be over! We have had more than a dozen foster dogs and Chauncey is the closest we have ever come to keeping one. She is absolutely adorable- the perfect medium size with the cutest face that my husband and I agree looks like a seal! She will forever look like a lab pup because of her size and face!
Chauncey LOVES the kids and they love her. She is very affectionate to everyone and very well behaved. She is the perfect balance between playfulness, calmness, and obediance. She also enjoys playing wih our dog, although she wouldn't neccessarily need another dog as a companion.
We have taken her on car rides, boat rides, golf cart rides, and to the dog park and she was up for all of it and always seems to be enjoying herself. I haven't found a flaw in her yet! Just an all around amazing dog! It's going to be a lucky person/family who adopts her- she will not disappoint!
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
