Nygel was adopted from us some many years ago when he was just a baby! He was passed around from person to person until his recent owner could not keep him and tracked his adoption back to us! This poor fellow needs a stable lovely home....he loves other dogs and seems wonderful with people!
Foster Update: Nygel is a sweet boy. He is housebroken and hasn't had any accidents in our home. For being 6yrs he has a lot of energy. Nygie likes to play catch and tug of war with our 83lb lab Renegade. They both enjoy running in the yard and chasing squirrels. Nygel has very good manners and is well behaved. He sits on command, shakes hands (both left and right paws!), sits up, lays down and when he lays down he crosses his front legs. It's really cute. HE is really cute! Nygel likes to sit on our lap in our recliners. He will come and sit by our chair and sit up for us to invite him up. He just wants to be near us. Nygel has a bed next to my side of the bed, but I know he would like to sleep with us. I don't know if Nygie gets along with cats since I don't have one, but he had no problem bonding with our Renegade. If you are looking for a wonderful loving dog who will be devoted to you and love you forever Nygel is for you. He is always happy to see you and always ready for a car ride.
Foster Update: Nygel is quite the watchdog - he is always on alert. Nygie even has Renegade looking out the window and barking when someone is coming up the walk. Nygel also likes to sunbathe. I call him to come in, he picks up his head looks at me and lays back down-did the whole cancer sun talk-he didn’t care-what’s a foster Mother to do! We feed Nygel Iams in the green bag, 1 cup of food w/warm water 2x a day and a biscuit when he goes out for the last time at night around 10pm. Nygel has the most beautiful face and expressive eyes. When you talk to him you get the feeling he really understands what you are saying he even wrinkles his forehead. He is such a wonderful boy. He sits next to my chair for me to invite him up, if I ignore him he will sit up and if I still ignore him he will start to talk to me and then I will invite him up. Nygie loves to lay in my lap or my husbands lap. On a scale from 1-10 Nygie is a 12.
Nygel qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program! If adopted by a senior (55+) his adoption fee is $50.
Like many dogs in the South, Niygel is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting a great dog. We are treating him with monthly heartworm preventative, our preferred method. Many heartworm positive dogs go on to lead long and healthy lives.
PRBJ treats ALL of our dogs with monthly Heartworm preventative. HW+ dogs are treated with the recommended slow method, using monthly HW preventative as it is gentler on the animal’s system than the more invasive, injection method. Most dogs that are Heartworm positive can lead healthy, normal lives if the disease is caught early and treatment began. There are different options to treat HW and new owners may choose to redirect their type of treatment with direction of their vet. All HW+ dogs have a HW slow treatment info sheet in their adoption folder which will be provided to new owners.
