Description:

This little guy was found by a concerned citizen roaming a Publix parking lot and turned over to our friends at Vista Lakes Animal Hospital. They were nice enough to turn him over to Judy so that we could find him a new forever home

Update:  We took Max to Fiesta in the Park at Lake Eola and he did great! He was very quiet when he was in his crate and great with all of the people and other dogs when he was out of it. He's good with kids and is super friendly. He has a lot of energy, is curious and likes to chase lizards. Max is a strong boy and does need some leash training, but he has a heart of gold and will be a loyal companion and a great addition to any household. He has the most gorgeous eyes and is very striking looking, even more so in person. Come meet this beautiful boy and you'll see why he's a shelter favorite!

**According to dogbreedinfo.com, the Deutsche Schäferhunde ("German Shepherd Dog) was first registered in 1899. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary. Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a great ability to learn. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipe buried 15 feet underground. A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy of around 13 years.
