Description:
Poor Liah is looking for a home...she is a bit older and we hope to find someone whom will let her live out her last years in peace and quiet. This is what her previous owner had to say:

I bought her from a breeder in Apopka in 1998.  I have her AKC papers  - she's pure bred. Her mom looked just like her.  Her dad was a gorgeous Chocolate Lab.  Her mom was 18mos old when she had her first litter and it was all females.  Liah was the first pup that was purchased from that litter.  We picked her from all the girls because she was the one following us around the whole time we were there. She has an Excellent personality.  She's very submissive and calm.  I've had a parrot sit on her back and she didn't even wink.  She's great with other dogs, cats, kids, hamsters, anything.  She can go a long time wiithout going to the bathroom.  If she goes to a home where the owners work - she just needs to go in the morning, afternoon, and before bed.

I have had her since she was 6 wks old.  I potty trained her in 2 weeks.  She has always been an excellent dog.  She's very calm and sweet.  She just lays around all day now that she's old and sleeps most of the day.  She has painful joints - I can tell from thew ay she walks - especially when it's very cold outside.  She has no health problems - has some skin tags from old age but the vet says she's in great shape.  I moved to a Townhouse in October of 2010 and I wasn't supposed to bring her with me.  I couldn't find a home for her and it breaks my heart to give her up.  Also, she's very sedentary and doesn't need to be walked although she may enjoy a very short, slow walk.

Liah qualifies for our senior for senior program, if adopted by a senior her adoption fee is $37.50.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
