Description:We have all decided that Katherine should now be known as Katherine the Great. She is royalty and she KNOWS it and expects to be treated as such. She is a calico, through and through. Calico's can be...quirky. Independent. Demanding :) That's our girl. She ADORES people - but on her terms, thank you very much. For all of these reasons, she's one of my favorite cats. She needs to be adored for exactly who she is.
This little lady has made tremendous strides since being 'in house' with our rescue. When Katherine first arrived, after being found in the office building of Channel 6, she did not like any other cat (even at a distance). If Katherine was in the room, no one else with fur better be in there either. Perhaps that was her natural defense system from surviving outdoors; however, let me tell you (although she is not yet a fan of dogs), she is now tolerable of her own breed. I wouldn't say fond of them, but tolerable. After her initial, I'm sure verbal, introduction she has found the ability to co-exist. Note I did not say befriend, I say exist. Knowing that most individuals who love and understand cats have more than one, Ms. Katharine would love to be an addition into a family of understanding feline care givers. She'd be best though in a household with a low number of furry family members, no small children and most definitely no dogs. The above would provide her (and in turn her new family) with that less stress form of living we all want and strive for.
8/14 Volunteer Update:
I cannot tell you how much I am in love with Katherine. She is one of those cats that, when given a chance, will take the love you give her and give it back ten fold. I know she comes with a long history of stand-offishness, and I'm not saying that her shyness is totally gone. But when approached slowly, she is very responsive and will sit for some petting. She's a "love nipper." She likes to nibble on your fingers while she's being pet and appreciates some good, quality bonding time. Not good with other cats or dogs. She's an independent in that regard. I would also say not a good cat for small children, but for a single person or an older couple, she's ideal. Quiet and unobtrusive, but loyal and loving. Both physically and personality-wise, she reminds me of my first cat SO much it sometimes hurts to look at her. I can't wait for the day the perfect person walks through the door and takes her home. It might be one of those adoptions where I just can't hold back the tears.
ADOPTION/DONATION FEE:
All Pet Rescue By Judy animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, micro chipped and up-to-date on the vaccines applicable to their date of intake with PRBJ and respective to their weight and/or age at the time of adoption.
Pet Rescue By Judy is a non-profit, no-kill organization. The PRBJ donation fee collected may not be used to cover just the costs of this particular animal in which you are interested. As we have a variety of animals in our care with a wide range of medical needs, all donations collected are utilized towards all expenses within the rescue.
The goal of PRBJ is not just to place every animal into a home, but it is to place each animal into the RIGHT home, seeking that forever home, to avoid future transition and negative impact on the life of each of these deserving animals.
THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING OPENING YOUR HEART AND YOUR HOME TO A RESCUED PET
