Foster Update (1/27/12): Scout keeps us laughing all the time with his crazy antics! This cat has found a favorite pair of work boots (Mens steel toe, very heavy!) that he enjoys dragging around by the laces. He hasn't chewed on them or damaged them. He just enjoys dragging them, earning himself the nickname "Puss In Boots". We think he may be weight training for bathing suit season.
He also loves to sit in the shower and lick the water from the faucet (See his pictures!!) and will play in the water from the sink if you let it drip very slowly.
We enjoy playing our own version of "Marco Polo" with him. We say "Scout" and he says "Mow!", "Scout", "MOW!". And he will talk back to you for as long as you talk to him from anywhere in the house. So cute!
He is such a social, funny cat (you should SEE him with a little cat nip!), and would LOVE a family of his very own to entertain!
Foster Update (1/6/12): Scout is such a wonderful cat! He's adventurous and loves to play and explore, but also LOVES a good belly rub and to sit in your lap and watch TV with you. He's the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! He comes when he's called (BEST recall I've EVER seen in a cat!) and will answer to his name with a sweet meow! Oh, and he does like to talk to you, but not excessively or anoyingly. He just like to say "hi!" every now and then. He gets along with most dogs, but if they're too wild he'll run from them and become fearful. But he would do great with a nice, calm canine companion or a fun-loving cat friend!
Since he's so adventurous and loves to be outside, I'm working on teaching him to walk on a leash! He's fine with the harness now (no more belly crawling lol) and will follow you with no problem, but the first time we went outside, a loud motorcycle passed by our house and he got a little freaked out. Oh well! We'll try again! I'm convinced he's going to do great with leash training!
Update 10/24/11: Scout is a high energy, fun loving cat. He would be best placed in a household where he has a lot of social interaction and play. He is good with other cats but can get a little over enthusiastic and rough in play which doesn't endear him to some of the older cats at the shelter!
A long-time friend of PRBJ took in this handsome boy. Scout had already been neutered, so he must have been somebody's cat.....can he now be yours?
My name is Scout! I’m a young man and I wandered up to a home in Chuluota, where I smelled kindness and another kitty that lived there. The lady took me in, fed me, and made me a safe place to sleep. She even put Frontline on me for possible fleas and ticks. As nice as I am, the lady’s 17-year-old cat was not too happy with my arrival. So I was living in her screened in pool area. Now I am at the PRBJ shelter waiting for my forever home.
I’m very docile and I love humans. I also love to have my tummy & ears rubbed and like it best done on a lap. I’m not a hisser, a biter or a scratcher--just a lover!
I am shy, but once I trust that you’re not going to hurt me, I melt like butter and will purr my way into your heart.
Volunteer Update 10/22/11: We introduced Scout to a puppy today, and he seemed very interested--not scared or hostile at all. So it's possible he would get along with a canine friend.
