Description:
Update July 11 - Several PRBJ dogs, including Kane, are participating in Camp Doglando again, which started today.  All of the dogs will learn to sit, stay, down, come and out of sight recall.  They will also be socialized with other dogs as well as the campers and will have an opportunity to swim in Doglando’s pool.  This is a great opportunity to adopt a pup who has already started and mastered a lot of training.

Check out the University of Doglando Blog to learn more about what PRBJ dogs are doing and learning at camp!!

Kane may be a bit older, but he is still full of life and fun!

Update July 14: I've seen Kane in camp this week and I can't believe that he is 8 years old! If I didn't know, I'd think he was 2 or 3. If you want a wonderful yellow Lab who will play ball with you, go swimming, has been taught basic manners and loves kids, Kane is the perfect dog for you.

Foster Update: Kane is enjoying my pool he goes in swims and goes back and swims again he is young at heart and healthy. Loves chewing on large stuffed animals while laying on the kitchen Kundra bed . Great with all the dogs and puppies. Very loving , happy dog. If you need a swimming pal take Kane.
Shelter Update:  We took Kane to our Oviedo location this past weekend and he did great!  He was so charming and silly.  Kane crawled into a crate that the puppies had been in!  There's a cute photo below!
Shelter Update:  We have recently learned that Kane loves water and wants to go swimming!  During the warm months, we buy kiddie pools and place them in the play yard for them to cool down in.  If you watch the short video, you'll see that Kane wants to swim so bad!

Kane is a the product of a broken home.  During the divorce, Kane's mother could not afford to keep him and brought him to us.

Like many dogs in the South, Kane is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting a great dog.  We are treating him with monthly heartworm preventative, our preferred method.  Many heartworm positive dogs go on to lead long and healthy lives.

PRBJ treats ALL of our dogs with monthly Heartworm preventative. HW+ dogs are treated with the recommended slow method, using monthly HW preventative as it is gentler on the animal’s system than the more invasive, injection method. Most dogs that are Heartworm positive can lead healthy, normal lives if the disease is caught early and treatment began. There are different options to treat HW and new owners may choose to redirect their type of treatment with direction of their vet. All HW+ dogs have a HW slow treatment info sheet in their adoption folder which will be provided to new owners.

Kane qualifies for our senior for senior program, if adopted by a senior (55+) his adoption fee is $50.00.

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
