Description: So, do you happen to have an empty lap? If so, I have just the bundle of fur to fill it! Charlie is a gentle darling, good with dogs but not cats or men. He is looking for his forever home, probably one without little children. He was adopted from us but returned because he bit the gentleman of the house. As a result, we have determined that Charlie cannot be adopted into a home that has men in it ~ he thinks he should be the only one! Is it yours? Watch this video- it's so cute. Judy dropped by my house on the way to the groomers so I could take some pictures (sure, we should have taken them after the groomers, but who ever said we were smart?). Charlie no soon got out of the van when the bottom dropped out and it started to pour. No problem - he just trotted right up to the front door, plunked down and looked up at me like, "OK, I'm here. Let's go on in!" Such a sweet dog! And, yes, I know we sound like idiots in this video, but there is something about Charlie that makes you talk baby-talk! Blame him, not me!!!
Are you unfamiliar with the Shih Tzu breed? Pronounced SHEET-sue, they are known as alert, spunky, happy and hardy. They are bred with an underbite which gives them a constant "smile." Traditionally, their coat is kept long, with ears blending into the body, distinct mustache, and a top knot secured with a bow. However, in our Florida climate, many are clipped short to relieve them of the heat. An alert watch dog, Shih Tzus like to bark but are usually quiet in the house. Originally from China, they were a favorite of the Imperial Chinese court and so revered that for many years after the Chinese began trading with the West, they refused to sell, or even give away, any of the little dogs. It was not until 1930 that the first pair was imported to England. The life expectancy of Shih Tzus in 16 years.
