Jeb is a hound mix who comes to us from a high kill shelter. He is good with dogs and people, but really LOVES kids so he'd make a great addition to a family with children.
Foster Update 04/25: Jeb is doing really well. The first night he was at my home, he didn’t know how to go up the stairs (I live in a 2 story). I had to put a leash on him to take him up to my bedroom for the night. Now, he’s become a pro at the stairs. Jeb walks extremely well on a leash & he doesn’t pull at all, although he really prefers to do his business in the yard. He loves to run around in the yard, play with my other dogs, is housetrained, crate trained and knows basic commands. He definitely loves company because he follows me everywhere I go. Jeb tolerates my one cat although he would do better in a house without cats. He is extremely good with kids. My seven yr old has been hugging & giving him kisses since he arrived and he soaks it up. He has no aggression issues at all. This doggie is not a fan of car rides. When I took him home, he didn’t want to load up in the car, then he finally figured it out. He prefers to lay on the floor boards. Maybe some day, he will discover the joy of hanging his head out the window.
Foster Update: 4/29: Jeb is is progressing well. He knows how to sit, heel & goes in his crate when told to do so. He'll go in his crate while the door is open to rest on occassion. Jeb comes when called and does not try to get on the furniture. He has not gotten on one piece of furniture since he has been here. He now does his business when he is walked and he does not pull on his leash. He loves, loves, loves to run around in the back yard so a fenced in yard would be wonderful for him. However, Jeb does not run off and does ok without his leash so a fenced in yard is not a must. I do crate him though because he can get into a little trouble when left alone. He has a little separation anxiety although it is not severe. I really believe a regular routine for Jeb would make him an even greater companion. I would avoid cats with him because all he wants to do when he sees the cat is try to catch him. Good for my cat that he runs fast!
