Meet Guppy – Our Little Fighter with a Big Heart
Guppy may be small, but her spirit is absolutely mighty.
This sweet Rat Terrier/Jack Russell mix was surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy at just eight weeks old. Right away, we noticed she had a condition called “swimmer’s syndrome” (sometimes known as “swim legs”), which causes her back legs to splay out to the sides, making it difficult for her to walk or stand normally. But Guppy wasn’t about to let that stop her.
We immediately got her into our trusted veterinary partners for evaluation, and then turned to one of our favorite miracle workers—Dr. Dana at Animal Crackers Chiropractic. As soon as Dr. Dana met Guppy, she jumped into action, creating a custom treatment plan designed to give this tiny pup the best shot at mobility and comfort.
From there, Guppy went into a loving foster home where she’s been showered with TLC, attending her chiropractic sessions regularly and learning how to scoot, wiggle, and zip around like the spirited puppy she is. Despite having minimal use of her back legs, Guppy is fast, playful, and feisty—just the way we love them!
She doesn’t know she’s different, and we don’t think she is either—she’s just Guppy: strong, determined, joyful, and ready to steal your heart.
