Description:

Please note a fenced backyard is required for this cutie to romp and play.

Prissy and Rosalie are two sisters looking for their forever home TOGETHER.  They came to PRBJ from an owner whose health needs did not allow for the time or energy to keep up with the two dogs.
They are a little shy at first, but quickly warm up:)
They are friendly and playful. Both enjoy being lap dogs, and enjoy human attention, However, they are not much for sharing their space with other animals, but a dog their size and with a calm personality for them to mirror going outside in yard to do their business would benefit them.
Their former owner did not potty train them, so new owners will need work on this. They do like baths and being groomed- which is something that will need to be done every 4-6 weeks with a groomer and will require daily maintenance to keep them looking beautiful.
Most of a Shih Tzu’s upkeep deals with his long, luxurious double haircoat that continuously grows. The dogs don’t shed much, but their coat is prone to tangling and matting, which can lead to skin infections. This coat is often shaved short into a "puppy cut” to avoid continuous grooming, because if left uncut, the fur can grow so long that it drags on the ground. If a Shih Tzu’s coat is kept longer, brushing will be a daily event, with professional grooming appointments sprinkled in every 4 to 6 weeks.

Another thing to know about Shih Tzu: They are brachycephalic, meaning they have a short, squished muzzle. This can put them at a higher risk for overheating or heat stroke, so they need to stay out of the hot summer weather.
