Reginald is a lovely boy who has NO business being in a rescue. He needs to be in somebody's home, purring and napping in the sun. We think he may have been rescued before since his ear is notched. We're not sure what brought Reginald on this journey to us, but we hope his stay is short. He is a prince will make a terrific pet.
Not all adult male cats spray. In fact, the vast majority don't. That is a very common misconception about cats and sometimes adult males have trouble getting adopted because of this bad rap!
Generally speaking, cats who spray ARE NOT FIXED. By neutering your cat, chances are you will eliminate this behavior. Spraying is a sign of territoriality and used as a way to attract females while they are in heat. By removing all of that silly testosterone :), you greatly reduce the chance of any kind of spraying behavior.
If there is a cat who is not appropriately using the litter box at home, it is best to take the cat to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Most often there is a physical reason for this behavior such as a urinary tract infection or a psychological cause such as stress. Your vet should be able to help diagnose the cause and consult on a solution.
