Did you know that female cats can go into heat every 2 weeks during breeding season? And that they can become pregnant while nursing a litter of newly born kittens? Did you know that tom cats spray strong smelling urine, yowl and become aggressive towards other animals and people while in search of females in heat?
These are just some of the reasons to spay and neuter your cats. The animal population is booming among groups of feral cats, so the LAST thing anyone needs is a housecat to escape and bring even more unwanted kittens into the world.
This is why many rescues insist on sterilizing all animals before they are adopted and why Pet Rescue by Judy insists that all other animals in an adoptive family's household be fixed. It is the responsible thing for a pet owner to do. Local animal control or the SPCA oftentimes offer lowcost spay/neuter clinics.
