Description: I'm actually rather sad to be posting Taxi on the website. You see, he was one of the very first dogs I ever put on our website, but that was a year ago when we rescued him and his littermates. He was just a baby then. I remember them so well. They arrived in the back of a van, a litter of puppies and their 8 month old brother, Duffy, that the owner decided to toss in at the last moment. Taxi was so little he just sat in the grass looking at me while I took his photo. All the puppies were adopted quickly but not Duffy. He was eventually adopted by Michelle, one of our wonderful volunteers. And now here it is, almost a year later, and my poor Taxi is looking for a new home. His owner turned him back over to us because, "my job has required me to be there more hours, he spends the day in the house alone." His daughter was crying and Taxi was scared to death. This picture of his was taken of him sitting the the floor of his owner's car.... Taxi is doing so much better now. Judy said, "Let me tell you about Taxi, this is a GREAT dog, loving , quiet, gentle, kisser, crate trained , a little timid . My fuzz button, black lab puppy Treasa, loves to go for walks with Taxi and take his leash and walk him. They are so cute together and Taxi is so gentle to this little pup. Both need great loving homes." According to his owner, Taxi "is lovable and calm, he is playful. he enjoys belly rubs, and closeness, he is very calm. good with children. friendly but cautious to strangers." I don't ever want Taxi to have to go through this again. This dog deserves a family that will be as loyal to him as he is to them. A forever home is what he wants and needs. 06/23 Update: As you may knowTaxi was at the Sanford Paw Park one Sunday when he decided to demonstrate his athletic prowess by leaping over the fence. When last seen he was running around on the other side of SR17-92. The next Wednesday he was picked up by the wonderful people of Seminole County Animal Control. Actually, they had to fish him out of Lake Monroe. Apparently there are those people who think it is entertaining to throw stray dogs into the lake and watch the alligators get them. That was exactly what was happening. Taxi already had a gash in his leg and was being chased by the alligators when the Animal Control officer pulled him out. Of course, Taxi was in such a panic he bit the gentleman as a thank you for his trouble and so got to spend 10 days in quarantine! Drama, drama, drama!!! But good things always come out of bad, and Taxi is now being fostered and trained by Todd Langston, a trainer who used to work with Caesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer. Todd and his lovely wife recently moved to this area and he has kindly worked with several of our dogs to help get them back on track and ready for their forever home. When Taxi is adopted Todd will provide his new family with two free lessons! Wow! That is huge my friends!!! If you would like to talk to Todd about him working with your dogs, please contact him at Pack Life K-9 Behavior Solutions, www.ocpacklife.com, todd@ocpacklife.com, 407 913-2750. Thank you Todd, from Taxi and all of us at Pet Rescue By Judy!!!
*** How familiar are you with the Labrador Retriever? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
