Axel Rose was found as a stray. A healthy diet and the love of a wonderful foster has really brought to the surface the natural beauty of Axel Rose.
Foster Update 11/17: What a huge difference a few days in a home environment can make! When we took Axel Rose home last week she wouldn’t willingly get in the car and she cowered and had her tail tucked under. It was pitiful. Now, she still won’t get in the car willingly (maybe she had a bad experience in a car) but settles down happily once she’s in. She is a happy, playful dog but certainly not hyper. She bonds quickly and makes it clear she is around to protect you. Someone said she looked “grumpy” – that’s the Shar Pei in her but she is such a sweet natured dog. She’s been brilliant with my two dogs and play bows to engage them in play. She is well behaved with my cats. She’s carried off some shoes and clothing around the house. She doesn’t chew them but likes to carry them around! She hasn’t had any training but she’s a quick learner and eager to please.
Foster Update 03/02/10: Rosie (Axel Rose) has been an absolute joy to have as a foster and I think anyone would be lucky to have her as a pet. She is super affectionate, loves to cuddle and is great around other dogs and cats. She is also a GREAT running buddy…doesn’t pull and stays right by you. In her week stay, she has been introduced to many new people and has been nothing but friendly. She has a strong bark, which is great for protection, but no bite behind it. In one week as our foster, she has learned to sit and is eager to learn more. Rosie has been a wonderful addition to our family and I know her adopted family will feel the same.
Foster Update 03/11/10: We had another great week as Rosie’s foster family. She is fully adjusted and so much fun. We have been working very hard to get her housetrained and she is 99% there. Rosie is a very sweet and loving dog. If she had her way, she would be cuddled up in bed with my husband and I every second. Although I enjoy it, we are trying to teach her good habits (unlike my dogs) by having her sleep on the floor. Some nights she lays on a blanket right by our bed and other nights she likes sleeping in our hall closet…very funny
Foster Update 03/15/10: “Rosie has had another great week in our foster family. She is fully housetrained now, which is a great thing! This weekend we took Rosie to the Winter Park road race. I was a little worried about how she would do with so many people, children and other dogs around. She was amazing! She sat next to me as we watched thousands of runners pass by. After the race, we met my husband in a crowded area where she stuck right by my side. Rosie got an A+++.”
