Seymour needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Print an adoption flyer for Seymour!
PLEASE NOTE: Applications without a fenced backyard will not be considered for Seymour. Thank you from the adoption team.
Seymour arrived at PRBJ from a local kill shelter. He loves to be with people he even likes to be held. Seymour loves to play with toys. This sweet boy is good with dogs, cats and older kids!!!!
His favorite of them all is a squeaky toy. Due to Seymour loving food very much he needs to be on a slow feeder so he doesn't eat his food too fast.
Seymore absolutely LOVES getting and giving hugs. If you kneel down and hug him he stays right there with you and even puts his hands over your shoulders and holds you! He is a tender sweet boy who loves to show how much he loves. you.
Seymour has what is called a soft trachea at his throat area. This means that when he gets excited or overly tired/hot his breathing becomes loud. The vet has said that at this time this is nothing to worry about since he is not acting like he is having a hard time breathing and getting oxygen into his system. He must only be walked on a harness and can not have his throat pushed on or grabbed. Because of this, we think that young children would not be a good idea for Seymour so they do not accidentally hurt him. We also are requiring that there are no other dogs in his household so that he does not play too hard and injure himself.
He is Heartworm Positive but please do not let this deter you from adopting this wonderful dog. PRBJ uses the slow kill method to treat heartworms and this has been extremely effective for us. We gave him a strong antibiotic for 30 days. Now, Seymour just needs his regular monthly heartworm preventative. This method takes about 12-18 months to be fully effective but it does not harm the animals in any way.
