Description:

Lia came to us from a kill shelter. She was surrendered as her owners were away a lot during the day and poor Lia has separation anxiety~She was adopted from this shelter, but was returned. PRBJ was told that Lia,"Did not warm up to the new owners and would bark and nip at them."

One of our foster parents brought her home and found that she is super sweet, and she just needs a little extra time to warm up to new people. She is fearful when meeting new folks, but attaches herself very quickly to one person. Her new owner is going to need to be patient and kind to gain her trust. She can not be in a household with lots of family members, visitors, etc as this is confusing to her.
The best home environment for Lia is with a single adult or a couple who work from home/are retired to be with her most of the day. We do not recommend a home with kids or grandkids visiting at this time. Lia needs a calm and loving home to finally feel safe in.

2/24 foster update: LIA came with me to work today and allowed someone else to walk her...and even allowed a new person to hold her. She is making progress in being around new people.  She is doing much better at home when left alone for short periods as long as she is not crated. Having another dog in the home is definitely an opportunity for her to be jealous of attention, so owners would need know she is prone to jealousy and work on possessive/aggression behaviors should they arise when both pets want their people's attention, etc.
