Sasha is a sweet dog that we rescued from a high kill shelter. She was adopted, but then returned to us as her owners did not properly train their younger kids to respect that Sasha needed her own space at times. Sasha would be amazing in a home with older/considerate kids as she was wonderful with their two older girls. Sasha loves to play with toys. Sasha can escape just about any fence. Because of this, we require that her owner walk her on a leash each time she needs to go outside.
Dog for a day 7/29/21:She is an excellent car rider, loves to go for walks, and is very affectionate. As a Hound, you can't be in a hurry walking her because she likes to keep her nose to the ground taking in all the smells.
Sasha is not a fan of other dogs. I found that when we were passing another dog, and seeing she would get all riled up, if I said, "no," Sasha took if I was telling her to go after the other dog and then it becomes a big loud ordeal....however, I found when approaching another pet and I seeing her start to respond, I said, "good girl" and "easy does it" in a nice calm voice while redirecting her attention. This has been working so far, and hopefully she can get to the point of not even responding to other dogs when we are out socially.
Sasha is a wonderful dog, and I believe the perfect home for her is coming right around the corner! Here are some pictures. She likes to roll around in dirt. She gets hot pretty quickly so she cools down in it and drinks lots of water.
She is currently heartworm positive, but please do not let that shy you away from this wonderful dog!
Pet Rescue By Judy practices the slow kill method for treating heartworm, and we have had great success with it. The slow kill method means we give the infected dog medication for 30 days and then after that, all she needs is her monthly topical of Advantage Multi!
