Description:My phone rang. "We just took in a dog that is just like Gypsy! Same look, same personality!" That might not mean a lot to you, but it means a lot to us. Gypsy was one of the sweetest dogs that we've ever had. And so is Ruby. A Rottweiler mixed with Lab? That's my guess because she has such soft features. And loving and so sweet. Have I mentioned how sweet she is? Really. You have to meet her. She is just so sweet!
Ruby was adopted from us several years ago... we recently got a call from animal control saying that had one of our dogs! We of course went right down to get her but were hoping to find a forever home that won't abandon her! The below is what we said about her when she was with us previously.
Foster Update: Ruby is an AWESOME dog and very playful. She knows commands like Sit. She enjoys her baths, toys and walks. Ruby loves going along on car rides and bike rides. She gets along with both big and small dogs and loves all people when she figures out you're okay. Sometimes she's a bit skittish, but she's gone through so much it's understandable. She's doing very well with her commands. She also loves car rides and is very playful. Ruby is such a good girl, I want to see her go to a good home soon!
Ruby qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program! If adopted by a senior (55+) her adoption fee is $75.
*** Are you not familiar with Rottweilers? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Rottie is calm, trainable, courageous, and devoted to their owner and family. The Rottweiler is probably descended from the Italian Mastiff. During the Middle Ages, it was used as a herd dog. It was bred in the German town of Rottweil in Wurttemberg. Practically extinct in the 1800's, the breed population began a comeback in the early twentieth century due to the efforts of enthusiastic breeders centered in Stuttgart. Some of the Rottweilers talents include: tracking, herding, watchdogging, guarding, police work, carting, competitive obedience, and schutzhund. They have a reliable temperament. Protective, he will defend his family fiercely. They require owners who can handle their massive size. The Rottie is a natural guard dog with a mellow temperament. They are highly intelligent and have proven their worth beyond question in police, military, and customs work over many centuries. This breed needs a lot of companionship and socialization to be truly happy. They can be aggressive with other dogs and should be kept on leashes in public places. Friends and relatives of the family are normally enthusiastically welcomed. Strangers can get no further than the sidewalk. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
