Rubble's owners were moving and could not take this sweetie with them. He is housetrained and is good with other dogs and cats. While in his foster’s house, he does chase the very small dogs (5lb ) from time to time, but will stop when told to do so He would benefit from being in a home with another dog as well as people who are home most of the time.
Rubble is in a foster home with several other dogs of all sizes and does well with them. We have found that he has some separation anxiety, so will need a patient owner who is home and can work with him to overcome his fears. He likes to be with his people and is like a shadow, right on your heels. He is actually a VERY good heeler! He does well on car rides, but he prefers the riding part as opposed to making multiple stops He loves to be outside and will go plop down right in the sun. He likes to chew on Nyla bones.
Rubble needs a home with minimal stairs, if any, due to having three legs. He also can panic on laminate floors as they are slippery and he can lose his balance, but he has become more comfortable with them. He will need to be very closely supervised so that he does not get away out an open door as he will run….he is VERY fast. A fenced back yard to safely romp and play is needed. We would recommend a home with older children as we are unsure how he would be with little kids (especially if they left the door open)~
Rubble is not a fan of crates, as he was sent to his crate when he was in time out for "punishment." He likes comfy dog beds, and he sleeps all night. He is mostly housetrained, but he needs to be directed outside right away when he gets up and after he eats. He does have occasional accidents so will need a refresher course in his new home. We found out, by accident, that he is pee pad trained. He is not a big water drinker so we add extra water to his food. Currently, he eats mostly dry food with a small amount of wet mixed in. He does like to eat!
He also will need his anal glands expressed every one to two months, per the vet, as he is unable to do so on his own without his one leg.
Special Needs: 3 legs - house or apartment without stairs - also has trouble on laminate floors
