Description:

Foster Update 6/23/20 : Nora is a sweet, gentle, and loving dog who is looking for kindness, neck scratches, and a soft bed to nap.
She has beautiful, brown puppy-dog eyes that will melt your heart. Nora is crate trained, potty trained, and rarely barks. She is treat motivated and is working on basic commands like sit, stay, and leave it. She is good at commands in the house, but needs to keep working on them outside around distractions. She can be protective of her people, especially around strangers, and new owners will need continue working with her on socialization. She hasn’t shown any signs of food aggression; she takes treats softly and allows you to hand feed her dry food.

Nora is an independent girl who needs a fenced back yard to explore every day. She does not like other animals so she needs to be the only dog in her new household. Nora came to us from a rural kill shelter where she had been for quite some time. She is now looking for her forever home!

Nora is anxious with unfamiliar noises, new people, and animals. A patient owner who will introduce her slowly to new people and dogs is recommended. Nora can walk on leash and is learning quickly how to not pull with guidance. She has been in a home with kids (ages 9 to 13) that love on her with scratches, cuddles, and positive attention.
After some time in the home, Nora became attached to the mom, who was her main caregiver, and acted possessively of her around the other members.
With this in mind, we feel, t he best home environment for Nora would be a family or a couple who share doggie responsibilities (feeding and walking her) so that Nora bonds and takes direction from all family members and does not gravitate to just 1 person and become attached to them alone.
