Adoption Update:  God Bless you!  Everything went beautiful, I walked in the front door and when I looked through the window I just knew he was what I was waiting for.  He is very lovable and cute as they come.  He will have the best of everything.  He sure loves to run. We have 6 acres of land, our mobile home sits in the middle of the first acre so there is plenty of yard for him.  I have named him Sammy.  You have a special place in my heart for giving me the chance to adopt such a wonderful animal.

Hello! My name is FOSTER. My original home was full of dogs, each loved by my owner. At this house, the animals had a 'doggie door' and seemed to come and go as they pleased. So understand that it was a little difficult for me to be properly 'house trained' by my new owners. Unfortunately, they worked and had to leave jobs every day to come home and let me out. On those days and when they were gone, I stayed in my crate. I am a smart dog, having gone through the Puppy class at PetSmart with my owners. I have just about mastered most commands. I am very loving, showering the people I love with attention, especially when they arrive home after being out. I am well socialized! I love people, children and other dogs. I love to run when I am outside and will play "catch me if you can!"  I have had all of my shots and have been "Advantaged" and "Heartwormed" (monthly) and groomed and and bathed on a regular basis. Ticks seem to like me so check every once in a while to see if one gets through.  When traveling, i might get a little sick so please don't feed or water me when I am going to be transported in a car for any length of time.  I would like my new owners to be at home more than my last owners. They were always on the go! Travelling here and there....not really a good idea for a new puppy that hasn't been properly trained. I would be a good dog for someone who is retired or someone who works from home. At the very least, I need someone who can spend the time with me that I deserve.  If you adopt me, I come with my crate and toys and all kinds of goodies! I am such a good boy. Won't you take me home? You won't be sorry!

Are you unfamiliar with the Shih Tzu breed? Pronounced SHEET-sue, they are known as alert, spunky, happy and hardy. They are bred with an underbite which gives them a constant "smile." Traditionally, their coat is kept long, with ears blending into the body, distinct mustache, and a top knot secured with a bow. However, in our Florida climate, many are clipped short to relieve them of the heat. An alert watch dog, Shih Tzus like to bark but are usually quiet in the house. Originally from China, they were a favorite of the Imperial Chinese court and so revered that for many years after the Chinese began trading with the West, they refused to sell, or even give away, any of the little dogs. It was not until 1930 that the first pair was imported to England. The life expectancy of Shih Tzus in 16 years.
