Foster Update 1/1/2020: Ashton has been with his foster mom for a week now and he has been great. Ashton did take a few days to acclimate to the new home, but he has adjusted very well playing with all his new fur friends, big and small. Ashton loves playing inside as well as running around out back or just chilling in the sun while chewing a bone. He has not shown any aggression and is actually very submissive. Ashton is apprehensive around males, but again is not aggressive. He is so very loving and has been sleeping next to my pillow at the head of the bed. He definitely needs a home where he can be active, especially with another dog to play with.
Ashton was surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy as his owner is sick and has recently started chemotherapy treatment. Since he started treatment, Ashton has not been accepting of his owner. It could be the chemo emitted an odor that Ashton doesn't care for, or the frequent absence of his owner confused him.
We have been told by Ashton's foster that when her husband enters the room, Ashton gets scared, but is then good relaxes. Ashton had a bad experience with men, and although, he has never shown any aggression towards males, he does appear scared around men.
Ashton is a small, but very active dog. He enjoys going on long walks. He is an escape artist, so he should never be left alone outside even if there is a fence. Ashton would do best in an adult only home as he does not enjoy children bothering him.
Ashton is housetrained. A nice, quiet home would be ideal for him.
He is not a fan of cats. He is a lap dog who enjoys spending the day with his person. Please fill out an application to meet him!
