Description: Nifty is just that ~ a nifty little puppy! She is a wonderful little lab puppy who will probably grow up to be on the small size for labs. But she has a big heart just full of love and fun. All she is looking for is the right family to share it with.
If you are considering adopting a puppy, please make sure you review our Potty Training Your Puppy webpage. It will make everything oh-so-much better!!!
6/1 Volunteer Update: Nifty is such a little sweetie-pie. She is very playful and loving and will give you puppy kisses all day in your arms when you let her. I have a soft spot for this one as she slightly reminds me of my dog at home with some of her quirky happiness. My dog at home actually comes off more as a person sometimes with her personality (as it is so intricate), and Nifty will be just like that!! Nifty is quite smart - she is quite tiny to be a full lab, but she definately has the intelligence and look of a black lab! If you adopt her, you'll have a Mini Lab!!!! We have one of those at the dog park (just a tiny Lab Mix) and she is about 6 years old and everyone thinks she is still a 5-6 month old pure lab puppy. How cute!
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
