Originally Poppy came from a rural area in Tennessee where the adoptions are very low. Pet Rescue by Judy rescued Poppy and a few others knowing there is a special family out there that would love to have them.
Poppy was then adopted and had a family for the last 5 years. Unfortunately one of her owners passed away and the other is having health issues and will need to move away to live with family. So Poppy is back with us and hoping to find her forever home. She likes baths and is crate trained. Due to her being very overweight she is going to need to go on lots of walks and have a family that is dedicated to helping her in losing weight. She loves people and gets along with other small dogs. She does not like big dogs or cats. She does well with older kids only so a family with teens or no children is required.
Foster Update June 2024: Poppy has been a wonderful temporary addition to our home. She loves people, is good with our dog, and is perfectly house-trained. She loves going for walks and cuddling, but her all-time favorite activity is chasing lizards. Do not be fooled by her round shape or age- She has a good amount of energy and will jump in the car to go on adventures. I would recommend Poppy for any home with a small or medium dog(s) and any number of people. We have not seen her around small children, but we did notice she will bark at big dogs while walking. Please consider giving this beautiful fur baby a second home and contact the rescue with any questions.
