Description:

Here is Mason's story from his foster:
He was picked up by animal control as a stray. He came to us because they say he was limping and having trouble walking (they are not a treating animal shelter). He had both of his back legs broken..we assume by being hit by a car. He had the femur bone surgery done on the back right leg and has his left back leg set in a cast. He needs to be in the cast 5-6 weeks until its set. He should recover fully and be a normal fully walking dog. He is wonderful and everyone at the vet loves him. They see him often since he gets recasted every 4 days! He is just like every other puppy, happy loves to run around using his cast as a crutch! HE didn't get the memo that he has broken legs..cause he runs around like a mad man. He is 100% housetrained as long as you take him out often and keep him in a crate when you are not there. He is a wonderful loving puppy!

Foster update 4/19:
Well, Mason got his cast off a couple of weeks ago and is doing great! It has taken him a couple of weeks to truely find his footing but otherwise he is a normal active sweet puppy! He is so clam and wonderful. My shepard has really taking a liking to him and has taking him under her wing. Mason loves to play with just about any size dog but is most comfortable with dogs larger than him since he spends most of his time playing with my 60lbs shep mix. Mason also enjoys going to the dog park everyday and runs like a manic. He doesn't yet swim but enjoys wading in the water at the park and trying to eat the weeds in the shallow water. Mason knows his name and comes when called. Another bonus is that he does not jump up on people or furniture. Because he spent about 6 weeks in a cast he has learned to not do this and spends most of his play time rolling around on his back or running around the yard. Mason also has minimal chewing habits and can be trusted in the house for several hours with anything being eaten. He is crated while i am away at work and seems not to mind one bit. He is very patient and barely barks. He is such a wonderful little puppy, i think anyone would be lucky to have such a great dog!

Foster update 4/29: Mason is getting neutered tommorrow and will be ready for his forever home ASAP! He is a great dog..a very calm laid back puppy! He is almost 100% housetrained (we have not had an accident in over 1 week) and hardly chews. He is so sweet and loves people, dogs, cats and kids. Is your home the right one for him?

Foster update 5/10: Well Mason is doing wonderful as always. His neuter was sucessful and but it was a bit more complicated them expected and he has had alot of inflammation and pain. Because of this we have regressed a bit on his housetraining but i am trying to take him out more often to help with this. He is a wonderful puppy whom is a joy to be around. He loves playing with other dogs, and my cats (although they do not enjoy it as much as he does). He loves to play ball/keep away, fetch, tug of war and chew on bones! I am since decided that he might be a bit more Sheba Inu then Lab since he has not grown much in the 2 months i have had him. He weight it at 21lbs when he was neutered which is pretty small for his age. I expect he will be only about 40-45lbs full grown..but because we don't know his background i can't say for sure! I can't say enought about this great puppy!

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for
