UPDATE: Shona was just returned to Pet Rescue by Judy from her foster dad. He said she is a great dog, totally housetrained, great companion. He returned her due to some seperation anxiety. This problem is an easy to fix. Possibly another good dog would keep her busy, more toys. He did state someone who is home with her would benefit her also.
Shona was a stray who was rescued on the streets of Miami. People on the streets took her babies and left her. She was finally saved and surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy. This poor girl was left in a cage for 3 days outside in the rain. She was tick infested. Judy bathed her and she is finally resting comfortably in her own room. She is safe now:) We will observe her regarding her potty habits and how she is with other dogs. In the very short time being here she is very sweet to all of us at the shelter when we enter her room. If you want a dog to cuddle with and sit by your feet Shona is the one.
6/29 Foster update:
We have not had Shona even a week, but she is doing well at coming out of her shell. With us being a retired couple, someone is home with her most of the time. Shona would do best in a home where her people are with her most of the day. So far, she sleeps a lot and does not play with toys of any kind. Shona acts like an old soul who has been mistreated, and sometimes, she is even afraid to be petted:) She likes to go for walks, but not when it has rained or at night-time.
She has not been around any neighborhood dogs or kids yet, so we don't know if she is the romp and play kinda girl or would prefer to be hanging with her people.
We would love to continue to foster Shona and love her back into being a healthy, strong dog - we are up to the challenge!
