Description:
Lexi is a lovely, young Rottweiler mix. She has the coloring of a Rottie but not the bulk, and is a pleasant size at about 45 pounds. Lexi is simply wonderful. She is excellent with other dogs and people, and just terrific with kids!!!

3/2 Foster Update:
Lexi is the sweetest, most well behaved dog I have ever had the pleasure of having in my home. She is just a big sweetheart! It is obvious that she has been mistreated by a leash because until she knows and trusts you she will not walk, she will immediately lay flat down and not budge! Poor thing... I had to carry her and put her in the car to get her home the 1st day, but by that night she was cautiously walking the neighborhood with me, and a day later she was actually happy when I grabbed the leash so we could go for our walks.
Every one of my neighbors fell in love with her and said, "Wow, she is a GREAT dog!" She did amazing with the other dogs in the neighborhood and is fine with cats as well. All she wants is to be loved. She wasn't quite sure what to do with toys at first, but she knew that she really liked them. She started by taking them all to her crate and then eventually figured out that some of them squeak and she loved that! Her favorite person in our house is my 4 year old. She wanted to be by his side at every moment. He would sit on the floor and she'd scoot as close to him as she possibly could and then put her head on his lap and she would stay that way for hours! As long as he would let her she would stay right there! It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen! Very laid back and inactive when she's inside.
She is 100% house and crate trained. Never once did she ask to go out and never once did she have any accidents. VERY laid back and inactive when she's inside. I let her stay out all day as I work from home and she is just absolutely perfect! All she wants is to be loved!

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Rottie is calm, trainable, courageous, and devoted to their owner and family. The Rottweiler is probably descended from the Italian Mastiff. During the Middle Ages, it was used as a herd dog. It was bred in the German town of Rottweil in Wurttemberg. Practically extinct in the 1800's, the breed population began a comeback in the early twentieth century due to the efforts of enthusiastic breeders centered in Stuttgart. Some of the Rottweilers talents include: tracking, herding, watchdogging, guarding, police work, carting, competitive obedience, and schutzhund.
They have a reliable temperament. Protective, he will defend his family fiercely. They require owners who can handle their massive size. The Rottie is a natural guard dog with a mellow temperament. They are highly intelligent and have proven their worth beyond question in police, military, and customs work over many centuries. This breed needs a lot of companionship and socialization to be truly happy. They can be aggressive with other dogs and should be kept on leashes in public places. Friends and relatives of the family are normally enthusiastically welcomed. Strangers can get no further than the sidewalk. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
