Fredrick Teddi, or Freddie Teddi as his foster calls him, is a lovely, and I do mean lovely, chocolate Cocker Spaniel. He is sporting a short Cocker cut, but if left to its own devises, would have long hair (who wants that in Florida?). According to his former owner, "Freddie is a 3 year old chocolate brown cocker spaniel. He is AKC registered with papers. He has already been neutered and is up to date on all of his shots and heartworm tested. He is overly friendly and energetic and just loves to be around people. He would sit on your lap all day if you would let him. He is half-way house broken, but with a little time and work, he could be fully house broken in no time. His only problem is that he wets when he gets too excited. He gets along well with children as well as adults and with other dogs.

1/30 Foster Update:
Freddy did very well for his first night. We didn't have any accidents in the house. He is so full of energy is not the word!! He LOVES his squeeky toys, boy oh boy!! To burn off some of Teddy's engery we must have played toss with his squeeky's 100 times!!! Teddy's a 10 on a scale for fetch! Oh, and I must also commend Andre the Papillon with helping to burn Freddy out also! They played and played and played, and Andre likes to steal Freddy's squeeky's when he's not looking and runs all around making Teddy chase him!

1/31 Volunteer Update:
Fredrick the cocker spaniel loves a car ride! I took him out to walk and had to grab my camera out of the car and he jumped in so fast and then I could barely get him out! He's ready for a nice car ride to his new home :) Great temper too- a potential adopter's dog was somewhat snippy with him and he just walked away. He can be a little bit timid at first but not for long!

The Cocker Spaniel is respectful of its master's authority without much challenge. Merry and endearing. A happy tail-wagger. Gentle and trusting, with average intelligence. They are lively, playful and devoted. Cockers will do okay in an apartment if they are adequately exercised, and are fairly active indoors. A small yard is sufficient. The American Cocker Spaniel is smaller than the English Cocker Spaniel and has a different conformation. The name "Cocker" comes from the woodcock, a game bird these spaniels flushed particularly well. Today, the Cocker Spaniel serves primarily as a companion and glamorous show dog. It can also be used for hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogging and agility. They have a life expectancy of 12-15 years.
