Trixie was pulled from a high kill shelter. Per the shelter she is a very sweet dog. At first she will be shy but will warm up to you. We just got Trixie in and will evaluate her with other dogs and children and determine if she is crate trained.. She is availble for adoption.
FOSTER HOME UPDATE 11.16.16: Trixie is adapting well to our family ( 3 adults and 2 children 12 and 14.) Initially Trixie was shy and cautious but now is very friendly and is adapting well to our family. She is house and crate trained. During the day she is free to walk around the house as she pleases but prefers to stay where she can see us. Trixie likes to take naps inside her crate on the thick comforter which door is left open during the day. When the children are doing homework Trixie will come to their side and gently touch their arm to be petted.
Whenever the family needs to leave the house we only need to call her name, touch the crate and she goes inside without any trouble. Trixie is well behaved, so far she doesn’t bark during the day, and greets us with a kiss on our feet or lower leg. The first 2 nights she cried for a short time, our 12 y/o talked to her and she settled to sleep quietly in her crate.
Trixie is also very obedient and responds to Off and No command if she tries to go on the stairs where she quickly learned is not allowed in the upstairs bedrooms. Walks on a leash outside are very easy, she doesn’t pull and stays close to your side. As she is getting more comfortable with us we noticed she likes to play fetch with a tennis ball.
Trixie gets along well with our 52# gentle dog, she lies down near him and today I saw her grooming briefly his ear.
