09/20/017: If you are retired and looking for a very handsome companion Max is the one for you. He was returned to our facility because his owners are working longer hours and Max needed more attention then what he was getting. Understandably so, Max is so scared at the shelter and is very confused as to why he is here. Everytime the door opens he looks to see if it is his owners. Max is housetrained and is now ready for fostering or adoption.
Max was pulled from a high kill shelter. He is considered a Schanuzer/Poodle. He is heartworm negative. Max just arrived at Pet Rescue by Judy so we will evaluate his potty habits, temperment and see how playful he is. He is a perfect size little dog that we feel would make a great companion.
MAX GOT TO GO OUT FOR DOG 4 A DAY!! HERE IS WHAT MELISSA & HER BOYFRIEND HAD TO SAY ABOUT MAX......
"Hello! We took Max all day on Saturday, 9/3, and we absolutely LOVED him!
Max is the perfect gentleman! When we entered the kennel, Max was the loudest dog, and had the most energy. We anticipated that he would be full of energy all day long, yet after we left, he NEVER barked again the rest of the day! As soon as he got in the car, he relaxed and acted as if we were his
long-lost family.
We first drove Max to Lake Eola in Orlando. He is leash-trained, and he is perfectly mannered around crowds, kids, dogs, birds, outdoor cafes, and even a lightning/thunderstorm. He never pulled on his leash, nor did he ever walk in front of us. He kept the same calm disposition no matter the aforementioned distractions.
We then took Max home, where he continued to be content just taking a nap on the carpet. The only time he gets excited is when you ruffle a plastic bag--he levitates (all four paws off the floor) in excitement! That must have always been the sound of his container of treats at his former home. He doesn't beg for food at the table or in the kitchen, although he DOES know the refrigerator must have goodies.
The 30-minute drive, both to and from Judy's rescue--whether sitting on our lap in the passenger seat, or sitting in the back seat, Max was never nervous or anxious. He just kept his same happy, calm, and content disposition. It was easy for us to see that he worked hard in the morning to get our attention, and then he reverted to his easy-going, happy-go-lucky attitude as soon as we chose him. He really made us laugh--as if he knew how to get our attention at then, he just acted like the absolute best-mannered dog for the next 6 hours.
He's a great dog, and he deserves a loving family. Honestly, I hope we can come back and adopt him. He fit right in with us, and we immediately fell in love with him. Max left his mark on us, and whether we can return to adopt him, or someone else finds him as charming as we did, he truly deserves to find a home with the best dog-loving family possible."
