This little guy was pulled from a high kill shelter. They day he walked into Pet rescue by Judy, he was very confident and sweet. He is so totally ready for his forever home. His owner was not taking care of him properly, but with his personality you would never know it.
DOG FOR A DAY UPDATE: We had a wonderful time with Ralphy today. When we first met him, we noticed his constant "smile." Initially, he seemed eager to explore and pulled on the leash a little bit, but once he did his "business," he was a perfect gentleman. We discovered Ralphy's favorite thing very quickly: car rides. Once you open the car door, he can barely contain himself. His little scruffy tail starts wagging uncontrollably and he does a little happy, wiggly dance. All he wants to do is sit in the front seat next to you.
We took Ralphy on a long walk along RiverWalk in Sanford, and then we sat down for a while at a coffee shop. Ralphy seems like the perfect mix of a dog who wants to play and go on long walks but who also enjoys relaxing. We discovered he loves other dogs and especially people! Ralphy will not pull on the leash to play with another dog, though. We encountered an owner whose dogs were not dog-friendly, and Ralphy was content with just walking by the other dogs--no pulling, whining, or barking. When we got to the coffee shop, Ralphy enjoyed laying in the shade under the table and getting head and belly scratches. Fun fact: Ralphy knows how to "sit" and "shake" (although he seems to be only willing to do his tricks when he is offered treats). Ralphy was an absolute joy, and he will be a laid-back and loving companion.
DOG FOR A DAY UPDATE: I was lucky enough to take out Ralphy! He had the sweetest most adorable face! He is a very happy lovable dog. He jumped right into the car after meeting my dog. He had a little trouble getting situated because the leather was so slippery but enjoyed the car ride to Lake Baldwin Park. When we got there he was very excited! He pulled quite a bit on the leash but with a little practice I'm sure he will be a fast learner! There were just so many excited new smells to smell. When we went in the park he did well with the other dogs but was a little more cautions with the larger dogs. We went for a walk through the wooded part and then down to the lake. He was not interested in swimming. At the end of the trip I took him to the bathing station to rinse his feet off and he let me pick him up with no problem and showed no fear of the hose or water. We stopped for water one more time in the parking lot and he laid all the way out. (Picture attached) Ralph is an adorable dog! We had a great afternoon at the park.
