The Rainbow Bridge

...Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so -
'twas heaven here with you.

Tenakee
We adopted Tenakee, an Australian Shepherd mix, from an animal rescue in Connecticut. All skin and bones, he had spent the first two years of his life tied outside to a rock. In no time at all, love and good nutrition brought an auburn sheen to his coat and a gleam to his sky-blue eyes. After a month, we got him a cat since he was always trying to play with the cats in the neighborhood. Of course, Baranov, who seemed so docile when we rescued him from the edge of starvation, turned out to delight in tormenting the poor dog! Oh well, Tenakee was good-hearted about it. Probably the easiest dog we ever had, Tenakee was up for a game whenever we wanted but happy to lay on our son's bed looking out the window the rest of the time (after two years outside, he preferred to look out at the world!). Imagine our shock when, at seven years old, he suddenly developed lymphoma. Within three weeks of the first symptons, we had to put him down. We were devastated! A couple of months later, we were in dog-withdrawl but unwilling to "replace" him. Our solution was simple: we became a foster family for Pet Rescue By Judy. It has been a joy and possibly the finest tribute we could make to our beloved Tenakee, missed but not forgotten..... - The Ryerson Family

Tiffy the Sheltie
I would like to take this time to remember my friend Diana's little Sheltie Tiffy, she was a little princess and has passed across the rainbow bridge. She enriched everyone's life with such happiness and she will be missed, but her spirit will be around us and especially Diana and Karl always. We will miss you Tiffy. ~ Clarence & Sharon

Tobey
Judy/Holly, we adopted Tobie about 2.5 years ago from you. He was a great addition to our family. We love him so much! About 2 months ago he came down with Kidney failure. He was taking medicine and we gave him great care and seemed to be getting better. We took very good care of him and he was so happy. On 3/19/09, we lost Tobie. We are in deep mourning. But we have Four other babies to love and take care of. I just wanted to share this with you. Thank you so much for the work you do. Tobie, was Doc Tobie. When ever one of our babies were not feeling good, Tobie would go over and play Doctor. It was so funny. He also seem to be in charge of all the others. He was one of the three original babies we adopted from Judy. He was playful, loving, and full of energy. Last year we brought them to the mountains, he loved it. Tobie will be missed but now he is with Buddy, Sadie, and Zackery.

Tribute to Buster Dog
We were a military family moving around alot, so I was not really wanting to get a dog. As a matter a fact, we were overseas when my husband starting talking about getting a dog. Our anniversary was coming so I halfheartedly started looking around. I found myself at the military pound, where people drop their animals because they do not wanna pay the extra cargo charge to ship the animal back to the US. Irresponsibility abounds everywhere. I saw a puppy, listed as a Chihuahua Collie Mix - interesting. Anyhow, I decided to take the puppy home to my husband. He loved that puppy, and the whole family fell in love with him as well. We got his name from Buster Brown shoes- which he tried to play with. Buster grew up with our 2 kids and became a wonderful family dog, putting up w/ a third baby who tried to terrorize him. He did not ever bite the kid, even when he tried to cut all his hair off! When I became ill for several months, Buster rarely left my side- waiting sometimes 12 hours to go outside for his business. He moved around everywhere we did, traveledmore than most people I know. At age 10, Buster seemed tired so we got another puppy, and that perked him up for several years. At age 14, I noticed Buster's eyes were starting to cloud up, later his hearing started to go, and he started tripping over the thresholds. Within 2 years he was having trouble eliminating, acted a little confused at times, and was drinking water like crazy. Then he could not control his bladder. Bless his heart he would look at me with his ears down, wondering what was happening. The vet told us he was just getting old and was developing diabetes. It was heart breaking to watch him decline, and we ultimately put him to sleep. However, he had a great life and we enjoyed his company for 16 years! Our family certainly hopes that all dogs go to heaven! Several people offered to adopt Buster over the years after seeing his great personality- I offered them my child instead. I wish I had a dime for every person that asked if Buster was part FOX. He wasn't of course. Buster was just a mutt dog we found half starved at a shelter, who acepted us as his family, and gave us MANY HAPPY memories! We thank God for the long years with our Animal Friend Buster! World's Greatest Dog! - The Futch Family
