The Rainbow Bridge

...Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so -
'twas heaven here with you.

Maisy the Terrier
Maisy was one of our saddest rescues. She was found living on the streets, severely malnourished, her ears cropped almost to her skull. It gave her an appearance that much belied her sweet temperment. We suspected that she'd spent most of her life tied up somewhere ~ she was hesitant to walk far and would often go "make a bed" in the dirt rather than on the grass or a pillow. Slowly she learned about love and trust, and eventually became the office greeter. Her best friend was Pot Pie, a little MinPin. But sadly, what ever had happened to Maisy before she came to us had lasting impact and she suffered from seizures. She would do great for a while and then ~ bam! ~ another seizure would hit her. Then one day, eight months after we'd taken her in, she suffered one seizure after another, each worse than the proceeding one. Heartbroken, Judy brought her to Dr. Wayne to be put to sleep. I don't know why people treat animals so poorly, but I am grateful for people like Judy who give them a second chance at life and love. Maisy may not have found her forever home, but she didn't know that ~ she thought her home was with Judy!

Mandy
Mandy, the blue merle dachshund, passed over the rainbow bridge today (July 2). Our lives were more for having known her, but less without her. Our sorrow cannot be measured.

Massey

We just got a phone call that has broken our heart.  Sweet Massey has passed away.  He was a dog found in the Massey parking lot, emaciated and abused, but never without a wagging tail.  Nursed back to health, it was a happy day when John and Tony adopted him four years ago.  Those have been four wonderful years for this precious dog who passed away from a heart condition.  Thank you to John and Tony for loving a dog who touched so many hearts.  May your broken heart be filled with happy memories soon.

Tony posted on our facebook page, "Thank you all for sharing your love. We are very appreciative of the stories of what a special pup Massey was to you. John and I are very touched by your warmth. We will forever be grateful to PRBJ for giving us four years of love, warmth, laughter and oh-so-many giggles with Massey. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed terribly. Massey was a true ambassador to what rescues accomplish, as well as dispelling the myths about his breed. You just couldn't help but be warmed by his spirit, and amazed at his capacity to forgive humankind for his rough start. He taught us all a lot."

You can read Massey's full story on his personal webpage at http://www.petrescuebyjudy.com/animals/detail?AnimalID=330954

Max
My name is Sheila and I adopted from Judy almost 12 years ago. My beloved boy Max - aka Roger - passed away in December 2017. He was the best dog ever!!!! He was loyal and smart and loved everybody without reservation. I had never known or seen that kind of love from an animal before.

Max The Shiba Inu
Max was a beautiful Shiba Inu. When he was less than a year old he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. His family decided they did not want to treat this highly treatable condition and elected to put him down. The clients and personnel of University of Doglando learned of this and convinced the family to let them help him. You see, they had come to know and love Max during his many visits to the doggie daycare. They took up a collection and treated his hip dysplasia and then they set about looking for a new home. Sadly, however, Max developed a personality disorder that made rehoming him an impossibility as he became highly aggressive to both other dogs and people. Finally the difficult, but correct, decision was made to put Max to sleep. When Max closed his eyes for the last time, he was wrapped in the loving arms of Teena and Janie. It wasn't how they had hoped Max's story would end. But it ended in peace and in love, so perhaps that isn't such a bad thing after all......
