The Rainbow Bridge

...Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so -
'twas heaven here with you.

Catfish
I adopted Sam the kitten in 2012, and renamed him Catfish. For six years, Catfish was the light of my life, and I loved him immensely. A few months ago, Catfish was diagnosed with a failed liver, a condition they believe he was born with. He went to specialists and we did everything we could do, but he died just over a week ago. I wanted to thank you again for rescuing that little boy and everything it meant to me.

Chase
Judy and staff- It is with a very heavy, broken heart that we are sending this email to you. I am unsure if most of the workers there were with you at the time he was under your care, but I am hoping you (Judy) and anyone who was blessed to have been there when Chase was found, remember him. When Barb came home from work yesterday, Chase was lying in the office and panting heavily and would not get up for any treats. Barb had a bad feeling when he wasn't at the door, as he has always been there for the past 9 years with a happy face and wagging tail. She immediately brought him to the vet where they advised her he had a ruptured mass on his spleen and was bleeding out internally. They stated he didn't have much time, so she called me and I left work so we could both be by his side. Chase gave us so much joy and purpose in our life that we could never give him enough love or show him enough affection of how much he meant to us. We still remember the day we adopted him and the car ride home. The first couple of days were very tough as we felt like our lives had been invaded, and sadly enough, enough talked about returning him. One evening he thought it would be a great idea to steal a pair of my underwear Barb had folded on the couch and run around in the backyard playing keep away from me. After a couple hours of that, I knew he would be with us for the long haul. He stole our hearts quickly and became king of the house, taking over the couches and bed (something I said would never happen). He had free roam in and out of the house to the backyard with his doggy doors, which he always took advantage of as he was a great wilderness explorer. He was our lone "child" for four years. We now have 2 other boys, 5 and 2, which Chase decided were his and would protect them from everyone, including us. He let them use him as a jungle gym without any complaints. He loved to give them a lot of kisses, which both boys always loved. We are struggling greatly this past 24 hours, not having a big piece of our family. We want to thank you for giving us such a great gift in our lives and wanted to let you know that he was very loved. We have attached some pictures of our puppy in hopes you remember him. I apologize for the large number of pictures and multiple emails, however, I felt it was necessary to give you a small glimpse into what he meant to us and we still didn't even make a dent into the pictures.

Chester
Chester came to us without any kneecaps and unable to bend his rear legs. Judy pursued every avenue trying to find a solution for the sweet boy who she loved so much. Sadly it was not to be and Chester will forever be a puppy at the Rainbow Bridge.

Cinder
Cinder was one of the sweetest fosters I ever had. She only lived with me for a few short weeks until she was adopted, but we connected right away. There wasn't much training that she needed -- as long as she had a comfortable bed to lay on, that's what made her happiest. She loved everyone she met. As long as she got a pat on the head and felt accepted by you, you were a good person in her eyes. The best memory I have of her is when I was studying all weekend long in my final year of law school. I was working for hours in a small office building and Cinder made sure I was safe during those late hours of the night. Every once in awhile she would get up, walk a lap around the building to make sure it was safe, and then curl back up at my feet while I worked. I never felt so safe as when she was with me. Cinder had a short life, but she had so much love. Not just by me, Judy, and the lovely couple who adopted her and cared for her until she passed, but by everyone who met her. She will be so missed.

Cloe
Friendship is an important part of life for humans and animals, and this weekend I learned how important it is to dogs. I've opened my home to resucue dogs and cats for a number of years now. Seven years ago my husband and I adopted Cleo from Pet Rescue by Judy in Oviedo. We had just lost one of our three dogs, and after a few months felt ready to open our hearts again. We went to Petsmart in Oviedo for our bi-weekly food trip, and there in a kennel, was Cleo. Her first owner was there, but moving to Brazil. She wanted to make sure Cleo, who was eight years old, was well tended. They called her "an impossible adoption" because of her age. We fell in love with Cleo, and adopted her...or she chose us, I'm still not sure. We brought her home to our smaller dogs, a rather large Shih Tzu named Trapper and a very timid Lhasa named Flower. We also had four cats that she found very tempting! Three years ago we adopted a fourth dog, a daschund/chihuahua mix named Little Cindy Lou Who. Well, Trapper was 17 1/2 when I had to put him down a year and a half ago and we've lost three cats since Cleo came to us. That left Cleo, Cindy, and Flower. Cleo developed Cushings Disease (was treated for over four years for it), and Flower had a heart murmur. They were both on Meds. Cleo was 15, and had begun to fade. It's been weeks of painful watching and negotiating with God...but we finally agreed to make the appointment to put her down. As soon as we got off the phone call with the Vet this past Friday evening, my little timid Flower...who had come to love Cleo sooooo much, went into cardiac arrest. She died as we pulled up to the vets office, she was only twelve and a half. All three had stopped eating well a few days before. Both Cleo and Flower refused their meds for a day and a half. Cream cheese or not, they didn't want it. We kept the appointment for Cleo yesterday, because it was the right thing to do for her. There is no doubt in my mind that Flower knew her friend was dying, and just didn't want to be without her. Now they are together, running and playing, and waiting for Mommy together. The house is very, very empty without them in spite of having ten cats, one dog, and three parrots. Those two sweet girls were a HUGE part of my life and I will miss them always. I've been in contact with Cleo's first mother on Facebook...and it's been a comfort to hear about Cleo the puppy!
