Annabelle was returned to Pet Rescue by Judy as she nipped at a child; therefore, we reccommend her to be in an adult home. She does like other dogs, but can be selective of her playmates, preferring very energetic, submissive canine companions. Annabelle is housetrained. She is very playful and enjoys walks and runs; so, an active owner would be great:). When we first took in Annabelle and her puppies, she was very skittish and scared, but with some love and time in a home environment for over a year, she has blossomed into a cuddlebug that just wants to please! Her previous owners had nothing but wonderful things to say about her, and truly were sorry to have to give her up. She deserves a home, can't you find it in your heart to make her part of your family???

Annabelle is available for fostering and or adopting.   Please put an application in and once your screener has reviewed the application they will get in touch with you through email.

UPDATE:  3/29/17:  We are very happy to say that Annabelle was tested today for heartworm and we are so proud to tell you she is now HEARTWORM NEGATIVE.......

Annabelle is a very loving dog and all she wants is love and hugs!  She did her job as a mom very well and is ready now for a home of her own and to be loved.

More about Annabelle:

Leash Manners – Annabelle is a strong, energetic dog who enjoys going for walks.

Socialization - Per Annabelle's previous foster, she is okay with most dogs, but would need to be properly introduced to new dogs. She has gone out in a few supervised play groups with other dogs at the shelter and interacted well with them.

Energy Level and Exercise – Annabelle is an active dog. She loves to run around in the yard and go on walks.

Daily Structure and Schedule – At the shelter, we feed the dogs twice a day and this is what Annabelle is used to. She goes out to play in the yard in the morning and in late afternoon. Also, our volunteers are frequently taking her out for walks in between.

Confidence Level – Annabelle is a friendly dog. From her past experiences, she is slightly apprehensive about men. She would need to be properly introduced to males so that she is familiar with the men in the home. She prefers females because she feels confident around them and bonds with women the most. Over the last few months, she has been around more of our male staff members and volunteers and she has never acted aggressively towards them. This goes to show, that with patience, love Annabelle can rebuild her trust of men~ Aren’t animals amazingly resilient and forgiving!

Obedience Training – Annabelle knows basic commands and listens well. She is crate and house trained. Like many dogs, she will let you know when she needs to go out.

Ideal Home - An ideal home for Annabelle would be one with an active family. As stated above, she bonds best with women, and if there are men in the household, she would need to be properly introduced to them, and allowed the time to gets used to the men around her and trust them. She does not need to have another canine companion as she gets a lot of enjoyment from being around her people. However, if the potential family has another dog, Annabelle would need to be introduced to them to ensure that everyone gets along. We suggest a home with older/no children to be on the safe side. She previously belonged to a family who used her as a hog dog - so whoever adopts her cannot own pigs.
