Jilly came from Animal Services with her 7 pups, 5 girls and 2 boys, at just 3 days old. Jilly has been amazing and such a sweetheart. She's a great mom and has been letting us handle her puppies. Her puppies were born on 2/19/2014 and we named them after some of our volunteers that have been with us for some time.

Foster Update 8/21/14:

Jilly is still a calm dog.  She does get excited and she lets you know by a soft growl that she wants to play.  She loves playing fetch and keep away with a ball outside.  Jilly is a really good dog.  She will snuggle up to you and loves to be right by your side.  She has several dog beds around the house and will go right to them when you tell her to go lay down.  Jilly is coming out of her shell.  She is willing to go up to new people and greet them.   She gets along and likes to play with other dogs.   She is good with kids and with our two cats.  Jilly has done very well with obedience training.  She knows sit, lay down, shake, and come. We are working on roll over and stay.  Jilly gets very excited for our training sessions. - Jilly is house trained and is on a great schedule.  She loves to go on walks and she is great on a leash.  We love Jilly.

FOSTER UPDATE: 5/19/14

Energy Level - Jilly is a pretty calm dog.   She doesn’t bark.   I have only heard her bark once when we were on a walk and someone came walking up behind us.  She loves to play ball outside.  She will fetch the ball and then likes to play keep away.  When she gets happy and excited she sometimes growls at you but it is all in play.  I am never nervous around her and totally trust her with my kids.  Jilly loves to go on a walk and is pretty good on the leash.

•  Behaviors - Jilly a good dog, but she is a little shy.  She is scared when she meets new people. She will sit on the couch with you and snuggle if you let her.   She loves attention and wants to be near you all the time.  She does not need to be crated.   We leave her alone during the day and she does fine.

Social Skills – Jilly is great with my kids and she is very gentle with the kids in the neighborhood.  We have not really played with other dogs since Jilly just recently had puppies and we just had her spayed.  She is very good with our two cats.  At first she was afraid of them, now she just leaves them alone and they leave her alone.

Obedience -  Jilly knows her name but she can be stubborn and needs to be called a few times before she will come.  We are working on sit and down and she will work for small treats.

Training  - Jilly is mostly house trained and can go long periods of time without going to the bathroom.  She has only had a couple of accidents since we got her.  I take her out and she doesn’t always go when I want her to go. She does not like to go outside in the rain or in the wet grass.    We are working on going to the bathroom on the command “Go potty”.    She is getting good at peeing on command but not so much pooping.  She will definitely go if you take her for walks.
