Doodle is looking for a calm loving home. He has been great with other dogs, but not especially playful with them. We are not sure how he is with cats, but he is a pretty calm fellow, so he might be just fine.  Doodle is VERY smart and responds well to most everything such as sit, down and off.   He does want to bolt out the door so that needs some work (we have fence around the front and back so not a problem.)      He quickly learned "crate" and will walk right in it now when he tell him.   He learned the routine around here and another foster home very, very quickly.      He loves to lay with his back legs out behind him.   At night he goes to bed when he is ready, which is on the floor in our bedroom and he lays next to 2 of our little dogs.

He likes to chase lizards outside, but really prefers to be inside hanging with his family.  We are working on getting his coat beautiful and shiny again (take a look at the before pictures to see the difference!) and since he is still itchy, he gets a bath two times a a month (non-soap shampoo) and the Vet wants us to keep him on Frontline twice a month not once, to make sure no fleas get to him.  He thinks the allergies are flea allergies, not all environment.

We are feeding him Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish and the limited ingredient diet really seems to be helping his coat.  Basically we believe that a grain free diet is always the best way to go.

All dogs, especially Cavaliers,  require regular vet visits. We are looking for that family that will provide him with the love he so much craves and will commit to take him semiannually to the vet for blood checks and keep him on heartworm preventative and lastly understands the breed.  He is a gem of a gentleman and a loving companion, to everyone he meets.   He will need to be on Phenobarbital for the rest of his life and also eye drops for his dry eyes.    The Phenobarbital does require regular bloodwork to make sure he is on the correct dosage and does require a prescription to be filled monthly.    It is most important that this be understood by any potential adopter.

The countdown begins so that some lucky family can become his forever home FOREVER!

Rescue and Medical history: This sweet Cavalier King Charles was brought to the center one Monday night (end of July) about 8:30pm. Luckily we were still working!   The person said he was found on her porch.  This poor loving dog has the worst skin condition we've ever seen. He had fire engine red sores all over his body and practically no coat left. We bathed him with a skin soothing shampoo for 40 minutes trying to help with the scabs off of his skin and to give him some relief. He was very happy to be in the bath.  He was so sweet and loving, appreciating nothing more than being able to rest in a soft bed and have some dinner.

As we got him through his horrible neglect, Doodle had a seizure early morning of September 6th, 2013.    He was taken to the vet that day and as Dr. John said, his bloodwork was "beautiful."     Doodle had a 2nd seizure Oct. 9th.  so  Dr. John started him on phenobarbital .  Doodle was then adopted but the new family found they could not financially keep up with the upkeep and vet visits and took him off the phenobarbital and unfortunately on July 4 weekend with all the noise and commotion, he had another seizure.
