Foster Update 12/11:

Hi, my name is Bailey, and I would like to share my story with you. I came to Pet Rescue by Judy when a volunteer named Bailey found me wandering outside, lost. Since no one knew my name, they decided to start calling me Bailey, after the nice human who saved me. I decided I really like that name, and I always respond whenever my foster parents call me by my name.

After Bailey the human brought me to Pet Rescue by Judy, I spent some time at the shelter where I hung out with other cool cats in the open cat room. This was fine, but since I am such a cuddler, I really missed that human affection.

Finally, after waiting for a while, a lady showed up at the beginning of July and brought me to her home. This is my foster mom. I was nervous at first because I didn’t know this new person or this new place, and I spent the first day hiding. But after I started checking out my new place I realized how exciting it was to have a place of my own to explore. Even more, my foster parents love when I cuddle with them, and this is the best because cuddling is what I do! My favorite thing is when my foster mom or dad lies on the couch – if they pat their chest and give me the okay, I will jump up and lie on their chest. I love to nuzzle my head under their chin or under their hands when they pet me!

Oh, maybe I should tell you about the rest of my name now. So, I am called “Bailey the Loving Talker.” Okay, we covered the part about my name Bailey and the part about being loving, now lets discuss the talker. Well, its simple. I love to talk, and I have a lot to say! I think my foster mom and dad have finally figured out what all my different meows mean. Sometimes I will carry on a whole conversation, and they even tell me my meows are really cute. I guess I’m okay with that!

Since I enjoy talking, I want to tell you about what I do with the rest of my time. Well, of course I love to take cat naps, and who doesn’t? And at nighttime I love to cuddle up on the bed next to my foster parents. When I am not napping I love to sit on the windowsill and watch what is happening in the world outside. For me this is a fulfilling way to spend my time. I also love to play with my foster mom and dad. My favorite toys are the ones I can chase on a string that my foster mom and dad control. I love it when they play with me! I have to get my daily workout in after all.

So, here’s the part about where you come into play. As you can see, I am a pretty great cat, my foster parents say I am the BEST cat. Now, since we love each other so much, they wish they could adopt me, but it looks like they will begin a traveling adventure at the end of the summer, and though they wish they cold bring me, it seems it will not be possible. They have promised me that they will find me another home where I am not only loved, but where I can stay forever. After all, I have loved my adventures, but I am ready to settle down and find my place in the world.

My foster parents wanted me to mention a few last things they thought were important to share about me. I might take a little while to adjust to change – just like it can be hard on humans, it can be hard on cats too – this is why I am so excited to be in my forever home! I can be shy around strangers, and I will hide when I meet someone new, but if you just give me time, I have an abundance of love to share. I always use my litter box, and my foster mom was pretty impressed when I came to her already trained to not jump on tables. I am always grooming and keep myself very clean. I will only scratch where I am allowed, and I can be trained to avoid certain areas with a spray of water, or a firm, “Bailey, no!” My favorite scratching post is a flat straw mat. My foster mom likes to give me lots of kisses, and I am good with that.

My foster parents think I would do best in a home with adults or with older children. I am past my kitten phase, and it might be tiring if a small child was always waking me up from my naps. They are not completely sure how I would do in a home with other animals. Maybe another cat would be fine, but I would like that other animal to be on the calmer side – again I like to be able to relax.

I hope you enjoyed reading my story, and I hope you might even be interested in adopting me. I can’t wait to meet the people who will love me forever. I promise that I will always love you back.
