About Cassie the Trained Lab Blend | |
|
|
Leash Manners – Cassie walks very well on a leash. She knows how to heel and will trot happily beside you while on a walk.
Socialization - Cassie is great with people. She loves to be with her people and will follow anyone around who is doing something interesting. Because of her size and energy level, she should be supervised around children but otherwise there shouldn’t be an issue. She gets along great with dogs. She loves to play with her sister, Carole, and both of them love our older Aussie. She does well around cats. If they are walking, she will stand a few feet away and watch them with her ears perked up. If the cat is on the couch, she will not bother it.
Energy Level and Exercise – Cassie has a high energy level and needs to be walked often (preferably every day). Having another dog to play with helps tremendously.
Daily Structure and Schedule – Cassie eats 2 cup of Taste of the Wild in the morning. When people are home, she has free run of the house and the backyard. When we are away, she stays in her crate. We walk them in the evening whenever we are able. At around 5 pm she is fed 2 cups of Taste of the Wild with a fish oil supplement added in to help keep her coat shiny. At night she is kept in her crate.
Confidence Level – Cassie is a confident dog. She hasn’t shown herself to be shy around people or other animals. She is slightly apprehensive about the vacuum cleaner but is otherwise confident as she wanders around the house and meets new people.
Obedience Training – Cassie is very smart and can pick up new tricks quickly. She knows sit, wait, come, paw, heel, and how to use a doggie door. She is crate and house trained. When we feed her, we have her sit and wait for us to tell her she can eat. While she is waiting, she knows to watch you for the signal. If she whines in her crate, it is only in the morning when people begin waking up and moving around because she wants to be let out.
Behaviors – She is not food or toy aggressive at all. She likes to be around her people. She is not big on giving kisses but likes to lie near you, especially if you are on the floor.
Ideal Home – An ideal home for Cassie would be one with an active family and other canine companions that she could play with. A doggie door leading to a backyard with room to run would be ideal.
