Knoxville is a return, his owner had a sudden job change and is away for more than 10 hours most days and was concerned that he would be unable to provide him with the love and attention he needs and deserves on a daily bases. Knoxville is still young and requires play time and attention. Knoxville is house trained, likes other dogs, likes cats, knows some tricks, jumps up on people, happy, playful, crate trained, likes baths, likes dry dog food, walks on leash, loves to dig, sleeps in crate, runs free in the house, LOVES TOYS!!!!, Likes to take walks, and is a GREAT RUNNING BUDDY!. We would like him in a house with kids no younger than teenagers, since he is young, very active and rambuncteous...bouncy as Judy would say!

Volunteer Update : Knox is an awesome dog! Even his name is awesome! He would be a great family dog. He would love a runner and would benefit from some training and discipline. He is very energetic and loves toys but will make a very fun pet! He gets along very well with other dogs and would probably do well with a playmate! If you are looking for someone that will keep you active and busy, Knox is the dog for you!

Knoxville is a beautiful chocolate lab puppy who was rescued from hoarding/neglect situation along with 22 other dogs.

  • Leash Manners - Walks well on leash.
  • Energy Level and Exercise - High energy level and loves to play with toys and run aorund in the yard.  After playing he will take long naps.
  • Temperament - Responds well in new situations, does seem scared when there are loud noises and is very curious about what people are doing.
  • Behaviors - So far no chewing except for his toys!  He doesn't bark except when he is in his crate which we are working on.  He is a fast learner and is learning to Sit, Come, and Lie Down.
  • Ideal Home - He would be great for anyone who can give him lots of attention and someone who is willing to play a game of tug of war and go on walks with him!
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
