Foster Update 11/20/12: Penny has become more and more loving with us as the days go by. As previously mentioned, she loves other cats and is forever grooming our other foster cat Mario. But now she has taken to grooming us as well. If she catches you lying down she will lick your face and your hair. She is absolutely hysterical when she does that. I watched her groom my husbands hair and forehead and thought I'd never stop laughing. She lets us pick her up and cart her around the house. She likes sleeping at the foot of the bed. She absolutely needs to be kept inside though. She becomes very fearful when outside and is hard to coax back in. She is not one to hang around doors and dash out so no worries there. WE really love Penny and thinks she deserves a wonderful forever home. Despite her calmness and her rotundness, she is quite young still. Less than 2 years old so she deserves a home that has the resources and plans for a cat for an extended period of time. She is truly a love.
Penny is:
Totally adorable Would prefer a home with another cat. (She's always grooming our other foster cat Mario.) Never bites or scratches Will kiss your arm or face Gets along well with dogs Meows at you when you come into the room and will come to you if she's on the bed. Will let you rub her belly Very motherly towards other cats and would most likely do well with a kitten companion Did I mention that she is adorable?
Penny was so traumatized and shy when she was first brought in to the shelter. She is now blossoming and we can see what a sweet, loving little cat she really is. I called her a "Little Dumpling" because she is a petite cat but having been in a crate for some time, she has packed on the pounds and is now a little rotund!! Once she gets to her new "forever" home and has the space and freedom to run, I'm sure she will lose some of the weight!
Penny is easily overlooked for the "larger than life" cats in the shelter but she is really worth seeking out. She is very special in a quiet, calm and mellow way. She has lots of love to give and adores human attention. I suspect that she will be a lap hog given half the chance. She LOVES other cats!
